Projects
Magazine Project for a Nonprofit
As part of a collaborative team project during my Master's program, I contributed to the creation of a comprehensive business plan for Sprouts Magazine, a nonprofit digital publication aimed at empowering parents and guardians with accessible, research-based content to engage their children in meaningful conversations.
My focus was on developing marketing strategies and sustainability plans tailored for a nonprofit setting. This included crafting social media goals to build a loyal audience, exploring diversified revenue streams like crowdfunding and donor support, and outlining a dynamic editorial process overseen by a board of experts.
This experience deepened my understanding of aligning content strategies with audience needs while building a sustainable business model for educational initiatives.

Website Design
For the Sprouts magazine project, we created a user-friendly website tailored to our target audience—parents and young readers. The site flow was designed for maximum ease, ensuring users can find what they need within three clicks. The color scheme is calming and gender-neutral, creating a welcoming space for all visitors. We used clear, sans-serif typography and a well-organized typographic hierarchy to make reading easy and intuitive. To see website mock-ups click here for web view and click here for mobile view.

Accessibility Project Ads Campaign at Nidus
For the Accessibility Project at Nidus, I developed a comprehensive marketing plan to raise awareness and engage the community with personal planning legal resources. A key component of the plan was an ad campaign designed to reach individuals with disabilities and seniors across British Columbia.
I managed the ad campaign, strategically allocating a budget to maximize reach on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google. The campaign featured video content enriched with storytelling and real-life insights from self-advocates, making complex legal information accessible and relatable.
By focusing on audience targeting and user-focused content, the campaign achieved high click-through rates and encouraged user interaction, guiding viewers to our landing page and YouTube channel. This initiative deepened my expertise in digital marketing strategy.

Southwind Press: A Strategic Publishing Project
As part of my Master’s program at Simon Fraser University, my team and I founded Southwind Press, a fictional imprint of the renowned indie publisher, Biblioasis. This project was a deep dive into the business and marketing strategies that drive the publishing industry.
Beyond creating a catalogue of compelling titles, our work focused on building a strong brand identity, conducting market research, and crafting strategic plans to position Southwind Press as a leader in contemporary Canadian literature. We developed innovative marketing campaigns, refined audience segmentation strategies, and explored ways to connect with readers who seek stories at the intersection of technology and society.
This project gave me valuable hands-on experience in applying business principles to publishing, honing my skills in strategic planning, branding, and audience engagement—critical tools for navigating the evolving landscape of the publishing world.

Kid's Magazine Design
As part of our magazine startup course, I designed Sprouts, a print magazine for children aged 3–6, complementing our digital publication. Focused on engaging young minds, the magazine explores topics like news, mental health, and environmental issues in fun and age-appropriate ways.
The design combines vibrant, full-color imagery with bold, legible typography to create a playful yet functional layout. Every page is crafted to capture kids' attention through puzzles, crafts, stories, and comics, all guided by a genderless, recurring character. A square format ensures practicality for little hands, while the magazine’s cheerful, versatile color palette reflects themes of growth, joy, and creativity.
On the marketing side, Sprouts was designed to stand out with its cohesive branding, targeting both young readers and their parents as a secondary audience. Click to view the magazine.

AI_Author Marketing Campaign
For my technology project course, I developed a comprehensive mockup marketing campaign for a fictional book, AI_Author by John Sterling, which enhanced my skills in innovative audience engagement and strategic promotion. As part of this project, I conceptualized an interactive chatbot quiz to captivate readers and highlight the book’s themes of AI and creativity, creating mockups for its implementation on both the website and social media platforms.
I also designed a mockup of a dedicated landing page to streamline hypothetical book purchases and showcase key campaign elements. Additionally, I planned an email marketing strategy to nurture leads, keep the audience engaged, and drive conversions. This project strengthened my expertise in digital marketing, multi-channel strategy, and crafting cohesive campaigns tailored to target audiences.

Audience Development Plan for Vancouver Writers Fest
I developed a comprehensive Youth Engagement Strategy Plan for the Vancouver Writers Fest (VWF) to help the organization foster a more inclusive and engaging environment for younger audiences. As a cornerstone of Vancouver’s literary community since 1988, VWF recognized the need to attract younger attendees, donors, volunteers, and members to ensure its vibrancy and sustainability.
Through this project, I analyzed the organization’s current audience demographics, donor base, volunteer participation, membership trends, and competitors. I identified barriers preventing younger audiences from engaging and proposed practical strategies to make VWF more accessible and appealing to this group. You can read more about my analysis and recommendations in my Master’s report here.
Book Cover Design Project
For this project, I created three book covers tailored to their genres and audiences:
Thriller: A dark, suspenseful design with bold fonts and eerie imagery sets the tone for a gripping mystery.
Memoir: A watercolor-like image symbolizes fading memories, paired with a calming blue serif font to reflect the story’s emotional depth.
Children’s Book: Bright, cheerful imagery and playful typography highlight the warmth between a grandmother and granddaughter, designed to capture young readers' hearts.
Each cover was designed with marketing in mind, ensuring it resonates with the intended audience while staying true to the story.
